  1. oh is this compatible with blogger template.

  2. Oxygen Therapy says:

Is this plugin compatible with the latest update to WordPress?

    I have just downloaded 2.8.6.

    Thanks,

    Lynne Gordon

  3. Tim says:

Mind making one for facebook one too?

  4. mll says:

Is there a way to get rid of the “I love it!” that appear during mouse rollover? Otherwise, it’s exactly what I need. Good plugin.

  5. maria says:

    compatible plugins, tx.

  6. HotForWords says:

Please put the text back to the way it was before or at least make it an option. The text change on the latest update is really ugly. People can read text sideways and it’s more aesthetically pleasing that way.

Thanks for making a great plugin. Putting the text back to the way it was will be great!!

    • admin says:

@HotForWords, if I’ll do that you will can’t edit the text anymore. On the old version I’ve used a image to display the text, now the text is fully editable (a lot if people wanted to edit the Follow Me message).
Just use the old version if you like it more: (download v 0.1.4, delete the new version and install this one)

  7. Karina says:

I wish you wouldn’t have updated it – I had the previous version and I absolutely loved it. Now… it’s not the same. Do you think you could maybe keep the options you had on the last version, as well as the new options? Or, is there a way I can go back to the older version?

    • admin says:

      @Karina, Read the above comment.
Just use the old version if you like it more (download v 0.1.4, delete the new version and install this one)

I really don’t understand, when I released the 0.1 version all said they want to edit the Follow Me text. Now when I’ve added this option and many more, all want the old version back.

  8. I like the way the old version handled the type better. I do like the new icons though!

  9. rubencio says:

excellent plugin but since the last version is NOT working properely (an error message appears in the text… Fatal error or something

  10. Scott Cowan says:

When I upgraded the plugin I lost all of my text on my blog and there is an error in the text box for the plug-in. Deactivating plug-in all is well tried 2 times. Suggestions?

    • admin says:

@Scott and @rubencio, this seems to be an error on servers that run php 4 version (on servers that have php 5 works fine).I’ll try to fix that ASAP and update the plugin.

  11. Astro1 says:

+1 for the old version was better.

I love the new features in terms of background colors but,I too as others have commented, liked the other version better. I have reverted to the older version. The text reading from top to bottom is not aesthetically pleasing. Difficult to read.

I would suggest going back to the older system with images instead. Perhaps creating a few options like Twitter Me/Us, to add to the follow me/us. I don’t see why anybody would want to edit the text that bad. If ‘they?’ want to edit the text just write a simple ‘use Photoshop’ tip in the install/readme. I think you’ll find that more don’t want to change it, than those that do.

  12. admin says:

UPDATE: PHP4 fixed.Update the plugin and let me know if the problem persist.

  13. c. reider says:

Thanks for the update… the plugin is giving me a problem, displays this text instead of ‘Follow Me’:

Fatal error- Call to undefined function- str_split() in /home/vuzh/vuzhmusic.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-followme/followme.php on line 76-

    Any tip on fixing that?

Also, I agree with whomever said that sideways text is more aesthetically pleasing than vertical text.

    • admin says:

      @c. reider, I’ve fixed the str_split error.
I’ll add a option to use images instead of text on next version (like the old version).

  14. c. reider says:

Thanks! The new update works perfectly, after installing the second update. I do prefer the new version, thanks for the superfast fix, and for the plugin!

  15. Josie says:

I’d rather the other version. Can’t you let the letters on flat way? Beside that, its a great plugin, I love it!

  16. Abhishek says:

Thanks for the update!! The only one thing that this new version lacks is the way ‘Follow Me’ is displayed. See the way ‘Follow me’ is displayed in the new version and the way it is in the older one. The is the thing that I dont like. Is there any way I can keep this version and change the way text is displayed.

  17. Allison says:

I miss the old one, now. After the second update, the text shows up but doesn’t look as “neat” as the old follow me icon. It looks unprofessional and choppy.

Also, the icons aren’t showing up. Anyway to fix the icons not showing up or to use the generic version like it was before?

  18. iDREIA_Dave says:

I love the plugin, but this last change is perplexing. On my site the icon will not display. I look at the vars and see the icon png name being passed into the flash, the icon is viewable from the web…but no icon shows up on the Follow-Me banner.

I too would like the option of the old sideway text. Seemed easier to read.

  19. a.curry says:

Thanks for the update.. The only issue is that now the label is half hidden in the scroll bar.. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

  20. Astro1 says:

A feature to select between a static left/right image or to use vertical text would be SUPER!

Also, I like the idea of a user selected link that you’ve got in the new version making the button able to be implemented with Facebook or any other link for that matter and not just Twitter.

A nice feature, would be the use of multiple buttons. ie. One for facebook and one for twitter etc.

Best regards and it’s already a great tool! Thanks!

  21. I agree with the others… please put the text orientation back to the way it was before (or at least make it an option).

The VERTICAL text change on the latest update is really ugly. People can read sideways text and it’s more aesthetically pleasing that way.

Thanks for making a great plugin. Putting the text back to the way it was will make it greater!!

  22. HG says:

0.1.4 is the last version that worked on my blog. The latest version 2.0.2 gets an API error a lot when trying to access the settings page, and the Follow Me no longer appears on the pages. I had to revert back to 0.1.4. I don’t know what you changed, but it’s broken for me.

  23. HG says:

The 2.0.2 plugin version also increased my CPU load significantly. I track the CPU load with Cacti, so I saw CPU go up and stay there until I reinstalled 0.1.4.

  24. This plugin is good, I think it will be good if the credits link is removed..

  25. Thank you for listening.

I look forward to your new update. You have a wonderful product – keep up the good work!

  26. Wendy says:

I LOVED this plugin before, now the text is super ugly. Vertical text is so hard to read. Can it be changed in the code to read normally instead of vertically like this? If anybody knows where I can go in the code to change it, that would be really helpful. Thanks!

  27. Ronis says:

i did not like the new version, I regret to have updated.

  28. dpschmidt says:

great new version with config-pages! wonderful product and very good implemenentation! thanks alot for your work

  29. Amorous Eyes says:

    I love it!

I’m gonna second Tim and ask if it would be possible to make one for Facebook too. ^.^ Heck, I would love it for several social network sites really. Like MySpace, or even an RSS follow link in the same style. ^.^

Having the ability to alternate between the sideways image or the text might be a good addition too for those that want it.

    Good work, love it!

  30. admin says:

To reply to all of you, if you don’t like how the text is displayed on the new version, use the old one.In the new version there is no way to change how the text is displayed, so until I’ll release another version use what version you like more.
I’ll release soon a new version with more options.

  31. I was running your previous version of the plug in, and it looks and acts great. I don’t however like the new version that changes the orientation of the text (makes it MUCH harder to read) – or the ? that attracts the attention when you mouse over. I would be grateful if you could look into these changes and see what you can do.

Overall – it is good though. See if you can make it great again.

  32. Ally says:

Hi – loved the old version…looked a lot more professionally designed. How do I go back to the previous version?

p.s. many thanks for making this plugin 🙂

    • admin says:

@Ally, remove the new version, download v 0.1.4 from wordpress, unzip the archive and put the wp-followme folder in wp-content/plugins

  33. Ally says:

I’ve found he old version now. All restored. Phew 🙂

  34. mysm says:

yeah..the previous version(v 0.1.4) is nicer and good looking tab. btw thanks for d good effort

  35. Really cool plugin but doesn’t work since today’s upgrade!!!

I’m using Firefox on Kubuntu 9.10 for 64 bit machines to browse my site. The follow me tab now displays as an empty blue box with a white border. I’d expect it to be a Flash issue but I have 64 bit Flash installed and it works fine for other Flash items. The problem isn’t peculiar to my site – your Follow Me tab is an empty box too.

    Thanks,
    Webmaster in distress

  36. admin says:

@Dion de Ville, can you check with one more browser (if there is another one that works on Kubuntu ) ? I want to know if the problem is with Firefox on Kubuntu, or with flash on 64 bit.
I’ve tested the plugin in Firefox, Chrome, IE, Opera and Safari on Windows.

  37. Personally I like the new version. Making the text/colors pleasing was not hard. However, I can’t find how to remove the ‘Get Me’ ? link. Please tell me you didn’t force that option. Thanks!

  38. admin says:

@Vicki, upgrade to the latest version (2.0.3).The link will not be there anymore.

  39. srt10coupe says:

the new version in flash are not good iPhone or iPod site.
please make a option for non flash version.

  40. admin says:

@srt10coupe, I’ll do that as soon as I’ll have some free time.Until then, use the old version.

  41. Upgraded. Now no font type control and tab will not show images selected. Tab only changes colors selected & unchecking the background/same item doesn’t work. It defaults back to checked always.

    Using IE8 & WP 2.8.6

  42. Thanks anyway. Too many ‘cooks’, too many changes. Was much better when one had some control over the font/tab size.

  43. Had to pull the plugin. What a major shame. This WAS a great, simple plugin till you started trying to please everyone.

  44. Lee says:

Great plugin, love the choice of icons. Many thanks.

  45. iDREIA_Dave says:

The latest version renders with no text, nor hotspot. I only see the box where the link should be. I left it on my server so you can take a look and see it and determine how best to fix it.

I know this is getting frustrating for you, but we love your work and admire the effort you have put into this plugin.

BTW, I deleted the plugin and reinstalled so this is a clean install with the only change being the URL to my Twitter page added.

  46. Josie says:

I am having the same problem as iDREIA Dave. Just appear the box, no text, nor hotspot. I really like this plugin and I will love if you can fix it. Thanks!

  47. Monoranu says:

Hi, I have installed the plugin on two of my websites but on my blog the “follow me” text is vertical and not horizontal. Can u explain?

  48. Josie says:

Oh, it’s working at IE 7, but not in Google Chrome. I didn’t try in Mozilla or Safari. Thanks!

  49. Hi! thanks for the update.

However, if the new version is entirely in Flash it will not work on the iPhone. I have many readers who rely on it.

Sadly, I’ll have to stick to your original version until the next update… 🙁

  50. The new version sucks. It shows up as just a light blue box on my page. No icon or text. Plus, if users don’t have a flash player installed or an older version you get an ugly download flash icon. How can I get the older versions that don’t use flash? Otherwise, keep up the good work, I like it.
